TanTerra Wines

Sustainably Grown

Luxury Cuvees of Uruguay

Oct. 12, 2009

Wow....what a busy season!  Lots of trade shows and wine festivals going on, and we're having a great run.  TanTerra will be at the Rome Wine Festival in Rome, Georgia, on Sunday, November 1st.  Come out and see us!  Here's a link to the city's website: http://www.romega.us/CurrentEvents.aspx?EID=531

We've enjoyed some very interesting food pairings in the past couple of weeks that we want to share with you.  These lovely wines continue to surprise us with their diversity and, specifically, how they seem to meld with foods and flavors.

Over the past year we've paired the Tannat-Syrah with white meats and seafood dishes and found that it is particularly interesting and complimentary of curry and spice dishes using pork, ,chicken, pheasant and seafood.  One pairing that generated great enthusiasm was a crawfish boil that was done with Zatarain's Crab Boil, Tiger Sauce and a bit if good ol' chili pepper...the Tannat Syrah blend was just right in neutralizing those spices and leaving a peerfect finish on the palate.

The Tannat Syrah was also a big hit at a recent tailgate party where it was served with spicy chicken wings.  Thai food, Indian food and anything that's got a little spice to it pairs very well with the succulent red fruit flavors and the lovely balance between acidity and tannin in the TanTerra Tannat Syrah blend.  Try it at your next barbeque or cook out.

We paired the Tannat-Cabernet Sauvignon last week with some Argentine Elk tenderloin steaks.  The big, dark purple juice was a magnificent compliment to a very flavorful meal.  The hearty fullness of the wine was a perfect compliment to the coarse grain and nutty-like flavor of the elk tenderloins.

We recently paired the Tanterra Tannat with Veal Chops that were prepared with a cherry marsala sauce.  It was fantastic!  The distinctive presence of rosemary and salt in the meat was balanced by the plush tannins and dark fruit nuances in the wine.  It was a great pairing that I highly recommend.  TanTerra Tannat will also pair very well with venison and other game dishes, given the strong flavors that typify meats of that type.

Thanks for checking in with us, and come back soon.  We'll be getting the event calendar completed sometime soon and encourage you to check it out.  In the meantime, keep an eye out for one of the select "Churrasco del TanTerra Wine Dinner" events near you by checking in at LocalWineEvents.com.  Below is a link to the next event in Alpharetta, GA.  See you there!
